Electropolishing

Electro-polishing is an electrochemical process consisting in removing metallic material; in a sense it can be considered opposite to electro-deposition.
As soon as the electrical line is closed, electricity starts to circulate in the system and an anodic film settles on the metal surface.
In certain conditions it’s this anodic film that levels and polishes the surface.

The type and nature of this film and the operative conditions determine if the levelling and polishing take place at the same time, or in a way not depending on each other; it’s important in fact to remember that the one doesn’t imply the other one.
