FERROXYL TEST (ASTM A380 e A967)

Test to detect the presence of traces of iron on the surface of stainless steel (AISI 304-316).

Ferroxyl test is a highly sensitive test to detect traces of free iron or iron oxides on the surface of stainless steel.

The test can be used to check for any surface pollution due to:

  • Engravings made with iron tools;
  • Pollutions from ferrous materials;
  • Iron salts from an imperfect post-pickling wash;
  • Iron powder;
  • Iron deposits in welds, ferrous inclusions.

After a few seconds in the presence of free iron you will notice the appearance of blue spots on the surface of the article.
